My brand started in a really simple way: I wanted a hoodie that fit my style and spoke my faith. I couldn’t find anything that felt modern or minimal without being too cheesy or loud, so I just made my own for personal use. That was it. No business idea in mind.
But when I started wearing the designs out, people would come up to me, sometimes just to say they liked it, sometimes to share a quick story about their own faith, or even ask where I bought it. I didn’t expect that. I think there’s something about seeing even a subtle Christian design that makes people feel like they have something in common with you. It breaks the ice in a way.
That part honestly meant a lot to me. Clothing turning into conversation. Strangers realizing we share the same faith. I was reminded of “iron sharpens iron” (Proverbs 27:17), because that’s what those moments felt like: believers connecting with each other in everyday life.
After enough people asked where they could get the hoodies, I figured maybe I should actually make them available. If something as simple as a sweatshirt could encourage someone or start a meaningful conversation, then why not?
From the beginning, I didn’t want to create a brand that produced a bunch of waste or overpriced pieces. Clothing shouldn’t feel inaccessible. So all of the clothing are made-to-order. It reduces waste, keeps things eco-friendly, and helps me keep prices as low as possible. I work with third-party suppliers for the same reason. It allows me to offer decent quality without making the costs ridiculous. And ideally, as the brand grows, the prices might even come down.
Another thing that’s important to me is giving back. If PARABLE ever grows enough to have consistent sales, I want part of the profits to go toward humanitarian work. I don’t want this brand to just talk about faith. James 2:17 says, “faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead.” I want PARABLE to act.
That’s pretty much the whole story. Just me trying to create something meaningful, something that represents my faith in a way that feels authentic, and something that hopefully makes people feel connected, to God and to each other.
If you’re here reading this, thank you. Whether you buy anything or not, I appreciate you taking the time to learn where this all came from.
